I’m dipping in and out of Doris’ diary. Some locals were welcoming and would happily pose, others would refuse point blank and one or two would throw stones at the photographer.
Poverty was rife and the area had suffered a number of natural disasters, destroying buildings and leaving mud everywhere.
Greg had to barter to gain entrance to many public places.
Some tourists would enthusiastically share information and tell Doris and Vera of excellent views and locations of orchids, others would hog the viewpoints. On one train journey a guy with a video blocked the open window on the door the whole journey much to the annoyance of anyone else wanting a photograph.
If you fancy following the itinerary with her, it’s here.
As always click/select the photos to open lightbox. You might be lucky and find there is a caption.
If you would like to see where else Doris visited, select somewhere from this map (may not work on mobiles)
