The guy next to Mao (who died three years previous to this) is Hua Guofeng, who succeeded Mao Zedong as Chairman and was the incumbent at the time of photo. Curiously he was in Britain whilst Doris was in China.

I wonder if either of these two went further with gymnastics or if the girl on the left carried on being a stage hand (its a false wall by the way).

    1. At my granddaughter’s school events everyone still takes pictures. It is important to record their achievements. Sensible precautions just need to be taken such as getting permission, not combining name and image, and only taking shots where they are appropriately dressed etc. The same thing applies when taking pictures of any children there.
