I think we are in China now.
They took the train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. Photographs not permitted for a while. Reading (ok, trying to as one of my eyes has decided to puff up as though I’ve done a few rounds with ‘Enry Cooper (have I told you that his mum lived at the bottom of our road and we would often see George Cooper in the shops down there)) through the journal, Doris noted that the colours in China were much drabber than in Hong Kong and that the back streets had squalor then.
The China trip seems to be in three parts a) Guangzhou and around the Pearl River area b) the Likiang River with the terrific hillocks and finally Peking (Beijing) with loads of shots in the Forbidden City. Doris incorporated other’s slides into the sequence.
We decided this was China as the characters on the building are the more likely to be found on the mainland. Could be wrong.
