MAD RAS /MAHABALIPURAM/MAD RAS

Breakfast at hotel.

08.10 hours – Visit the historic 17th and 18th century

Fort St. George, with ancient houses and St. Marys

Church, built in 1678; Museum; and National Art Gallery.

Continue to Mahabalipuram for lunch at Temple Bay Hotel.

13.45 hours – Visit the Shore Temple and unique series of rock-cut shrines or ‘pagodas’.

Return to Madras for dinner and night at Hotel Taj Coromandel.

Continuing on the 25th and possibly the 26th

Breakfast at hotel.

08.00 hours – Transfer from Hotel Taj Coromandel to

Madras Airport.

 

MADRAS AIRPORT

TIRUCHIRAPALI AIRPORT

 

Transfer from Airport to Hotel Sangam.

 

14.00 hours – Visit the Rock Fort, rising abruptly

from the plains to a height of 253 ft., and surmounted

by a temple dedicated to the elephant-headed God,

Ganesh. Midway along the stone-cut staircase is the

Hall of 100 Pillars and the Mathrubhutheswarar Shrine.

 

Lunch, dinner and night at Hotel Sangam.

 

A combination of different lighting, limitations in the film, extreme limitations with my ability and age (the slides and mine!) mean that there is a wonderful variety of colour for exactly the same structure!
