556. Thailand 1978 – Ayutthaya

Th itinerary was

“FRIDAY [– 24/02]

PITSANULOKE / PHUMIPO L DAM

Today you will leave your Hotel at approximately 8.OO am to see Wat Maha Dhat

with its revered Buddha statue, Phna Buddha Jinarja. The route then takes you

to Sri Satchanalai, the Northern outpost town of the Kingdom of Sukothai, built

by King Ramkamhaeng, to see Wat Chang Lom, Wat Jedi Jet Thaew, Wat Nang

Phya and Wat Phra Sri Ratana Maha Dhat, which stands on the site of the Khmer

Fort  called “Chalieng”. Lunch is provided at the Kittipochana Restaurant before

the journey to Sukothai to visit the famous ruins of this first capital of Thailand

(1257 – 1379). You will also be taken to Wat Maha Dhat, Ramkamhaeng Museum,

Wat Sra Sri and Wat Sri Chum. Your coach will then continue via Tak to Phumipol

Dam and the Phumipol Dam Guest House for dinner and overnight accommodation.”

Look at the fourth picture then look for it on Google Images – you’ll see that the side walls have been reconstructed since 1978.
