Looking through the papers, I found the itinerary for the trip.
This set of pictures were taken in Gondar. This location has many seventeenth castles, and the Church of Debre Berhan Selassie. The photos also include a visit to the village of Feleshas, ‘a distinct ethnic group who have resisted Christianity over many centuries and who practise an archaic form of Judaism.’
I particularly like the juxtaposing between the wealth and the poverty. Athough the tour probably did not know it, the country was in the grip of a famine, the government’s response being one of the reasons Haile Selassie was overthrown the next year.
