1971 England

308. One of Those Days in England (Part 2) – 1971

“Every Wednesday morning, at about the hour of ten
I give the Queen my autograph, she gives me the yen” [1]

Hello – Welcome to WDEOD, a site full of Doris’ photographs!

Its purpose is to share the shots she took in her 50+ years of travel. I’m trying to do a post a film – so one tour may have many posts.
To see what I’ve put up so far, use the menu (three lines up there ↑ if you are on a phone or tablet) to go to a place or a year.

The remaining 1971 slides are mostly close up of flowers (which I have no interest in), and some odds from Turkey.

And these.

The location is so familiar but I cannot place it. Dorset Jurassic Coast?

  • The Es on the fishing boats
  • It must be a south facing beach judging by the shadow
  • Above the green hut in picture no one is an RNLI flag
  • There’s a war memorial in the third picture, above the beach huts

Near us, in a not so nice part of town, is a set of cottages that look to have been knocked into one. Outside is a gorgeous Wisteria, like the one below, which is a joy to see before getting to the recycling centre, warehouses and factories.

    1. I’m sure someone will identify it. When they do, I see a day trip down there to see what its like 46/7 years later. Probably no different apart from a few more beach huts.
