Hello – Welcome to WDEOD, a site full of Doris’ photographs!
Its purpose is to share the shots she took in her 50+ years of travel. I’m trying to do a post a film – so one tour may have many posts.
To see what I’ve put up so far, use the menu (three lines up there ↑ if you are on a phone or tablet) to go to a place or a year.
The next leg of Doris’ tour of South East Asia was Cambodia. She flew Air Vietnam – The plane was called “Thanh Long” but I cannot make out the reg number of the Boeing 727 as it curves around the engine out of sight (how apt for hippy times, man).
The first few shots are the trip to the airport, there’s hardly any of Phnom Penh as they were not there long before setting off, crossing the Mekong, to Siem Reap for Angkor Thom and Bayon.
A little historical context. The Vietnam War was raging and Cambodia, being neighbours was being used by the North Vietnamese for camps and consequently being bombed by the USA. All this was happening at the other end of the country to where Doris was.
