1968 Europe London

217. 1968 – Three (No Two!) Out of Four Unknown

Hello – Welcome to WDEOD, a site full of Doris’ photographs!

Its purpose is to share the shots she took in her 50+ years of travel. I’m trying to do a post a film – so one tour may have many posts.
To see what I’ve put up so far, use the menu (three lines up there ↑ if you are on a phone or tablet) to go to a place or a year.

These were in among the 1968 Spanish Tour, but I doubt they are of there.

Of the 36-38 shots on this particular roll of film, only 7 survive. Three of these ) 16,  33 and 35) are close ups of flowers which I have not scanned. The remaining four therefore are:

This fine gentleman is a Yeoman Warder who would be found in the Tower of London (which the knowledgeable among you will know is not in Spain).

Clues. The road sign is not British. One here does not undertake, anyway. The building with the winged figures looks familiar. It could be Valencia or indeed anywhere!

  1. Half an hour of digging and I have found it! It is Madrid, the current Ministry of Agriculture next to Atocha station. I think Doris was on Plaza Emperador Carlos V when she took it. I see no overpasses, but Google maps did take me to a tunnel when I clicked on one part of the map so maybe there is an underpass there now.
