Hello – Welcome to WDEOD, a site full of Doris’ photographs!
Its purpose is to share the shots she took in her 50+ years of travel. I’m trying to do a post a film – so one tour may have many posts.
To see what I’ve put up so far, use the menu (three lines up there ↑ if you are on a phone or tablet) to go to a place or a year.
These are shots from Doris’ India trip of January / February 1968.
Links to the India 1968 tour are here.
This set is from Uttar Pradesh.
I was really in two minds about adding these first two slides. I find them disgusting. The first is a dancing bear, probably taught that way through violence. I took my grand daughter to a local zoo (now called wildlife centre) which had a rescued bear from a Russian circus. The poor thing, in a large enclosure with thoughtfully designed surroundings, continually ran through it’s routine.. step, step, turn in a circle, get up to beg, step step etc. I could have wept. Hopefully one day man will learn.
The poor guy needed to feed his family so who am I to judge?
Ok, on to beautiful human achievements…
Ok, another one that maybe should not be here – but everything dies and planets fade away.
